  • Very long story condensed, I was in an ab ive relationship for 2.5 years with a manipulative man 21 years older than me (then 22F).
  • He had a cat, Tigger (real name cause f you Mike you old when we got together and got another one during our relationship.
  • 'My' cat ended up going missing and for a brief example of the toxicity he got sick of me being upset and told me if I didn't get over it we were done (which was a huge deal to me then, poor younger self).

  • When we split, he told me things like 'you'll never see him again' and was just all around aggressive knowing that his cat had practically become mine over those 2.5 years.
  • About 2 years later I got a call from a vet clinic saying they found my cat and my contact information on his microchip (I was the secondary contact but his number was disconnected).

  • After a very tearful meeting with my little man, the rescue group that had him found my exes contact information and let him know that Tigger had been diagnosed with FIV and was no longer allowed outside.
  • My ex, living in a bungalow behind his mother's house refused to keep him inside so surrendered him to the rescue, who 'adopted' him back out to me officially.

  • Recently, one of his family members came up as a suggested friend on Instagram so naturally I had a curiosity stalk.
  • She had a tattoo that said RIP Tiger (misspelled) and a memorial post for his birthday, which led me to realise that my ex thought he had surrendered my beautiful cat to be put to sleep.
  • This of course, forced me to post a photo of my little man (now renamed Digs because that was his nickname from me anyway) on my Instagram and put my account on public.

  • To add to the pettiness, I 'accidentally' liked the relative's photo of the tattoo so that she'd be inclined to stalk my insta back and see that her tattoo is actually completely wrong.
  • Because he's alive and well and living his best life with me, the ex that the family now doesn't like at all.
  • I haven't had any indication that they know yet, but I'm keeping an eye out.
